OVERVIEW
Iceland could be a land of the far and full of mysteries, but Iceland is actually not all icy, just as Greenland is not all green. Iceland is truly a ‘Niceland’, it was ranked one of the happiest countries in the world, and Icelanders were regarded as the friendliest people in the world.
On our tour to the Land of Ice and Fire, students will first get to interact with local students and understand about their culture, tradition and language, food, sports and leisure activities, as well as participating in meaningful community service together in Iceland. They will then adventure in the stunning natural habitats of Iceland, stretching from the West to the East, including visits to various famous locations, such as Jökulsarlón glacier lagoon, Skaftafell National Park, Reynisfjara Beach, and the Golden Circle, while meeting and hearing stories of locals horse and goat farmers in between locations.
What is the truth about Icelandic happiness? What makes this ‘Niceland’ so special? What can be learned from Icelanders? To answer these questions, students are to play the roles of photographers, writers, and directors and join forces together to broadcast their daily findings and thoughts onto their chosen online social network platform. Led by photojournalist, Mike Villa, students will be guided in finding the best ways to capture a moment with images, sounds, and words. Their work could be featured and showcased on media in Hong Kong upon their return.
We are aspired to enhance the student’s observation and critical thinking through this tour, not only enabling them to have a deeper appreciation of our relationship with nature but also instilling a positive attitude towards life.
