Conductor (orchestra, choir, wind band) at Dartington International Summer School for nine years. Conducted choirs for London Mozart Players (Mathias Bamert) including Harry Blech Memorial Concert, and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Vernon Handley – The Planets, Gilbert Kaplan – Mahler Resurrection). Previously Conductor, Chetham’s School of Music (with Christopher Seaman, Nicholas Kraemer, Wilfried Boettcher) and Founder/Conductor Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

​Conducted over 100 concerts at Warwick Arts Centre (leading UK hall), including Mahler Symphony of a Thousand, Bruckner 4, Beethoven cycle, Tippett Child of Our Time, and opera including Gluck Orpheus ed Eurydice, Tchaikovsky Eugene Onegin, Bizet Carmen. Conducted Los Angeles Symphonic Winds at Chicago Mid-West Clinic; Symphony Hall Birmingham (Elgar Enigma Variations, Tchaikovsky 4), The Anvil Basingstoke, Bridgewater Hall Manchester (own oratorio Hilarion), Vienna Rathaus and Salzburg (Brahms 2, Mozart Requiem), Paris (Elgar Dream of Gerontius). Conducted National Youth Wind Orchestras of both Britain and Luxembourg, and Hong Kong Youth Orchestra.

Colin has commissioned and premiered many new works and gained many awards with orchestras, choirs and bands, including Gold, Open Class Final, National Concert Band Festival, and Gold or Silver at every international festival entered. He has founded several ensembles - Warwick Orchestral Winds, British Universities Honours Band, National Youth Recorder Orchestra. His compositions have been broadcast on national and local radio and television; he is increasingly in demand to write to commission, and lead workshops in conducting, clarinet, recorder, teaching, adjudication, having given such presentations now in over 20 countries.
